Immerse yourself in a universe where each sculpture becomes a window to timeless stories. Here, tradition intertwines with innovation to create art that deeply resonates with the soul.
Discover how history and contemporary technology merge in each of my sculptures. My name is Emili Solé, and from my workshop, a space where creativity knows no bounds, I invite you to discover my passion for sculpture.
With over 40 years of experience and training at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, my works connect the past with the present. Each figure tells a story, acting as a bridge between generations and cultures.
Every day, I commit to never leaving anything unfinished. The satisfaction of completing what I start is invaluable. If I decide to do something, I strive to be the best, not in comparison with others, but by surpassing myself. This sculpture project in the world of nativity scenes embodies this philosophy. Each figure I create is the result of in-depth research, dedication, and passion, aimed at offering you not just art, but authentic stories that will enrich your collection and touch your soul.
In my workshop, 3D technology and digital modeling techniques combine with traditional methods to create unique works of art. These modern tools allow me to design and visualize each figure with unprecedented precision and creative freedom.
Whether it's a Semana Santa paso at life-size (180 cm) or a small nativity figure (7 cm), each sculpture is modeled with passion and precision, always seeking the best artistic composition.
"Throughout this disastrous year of 2020, Emili has been the Boccaccio of the forum, providing us with arguments to entertain ourselves and keep going. For his research on the clothing and customs of the Hebrews, for his teachings on computer programs, for his joint construction of a nativity scene in the forum, and above all for always being here, helping us with our fantasies and imaginations. Emili deserves the title of 'figurist of the year 2021' for his dedication and passion in every figure he creates."
Drake, Member of the Nativity Forum
"Merry Christmas! I join the nomination, congratulations! Your figures, from the adoration of Murillo, are impressive in both quantity and quality. If you continue at this pace, you will be the 'Martí' (hand-carved figures) of the 21st century. Anticipating Drake, I already propose you as EF (sculptor of figures) of 2021."
Felix Eloz, Member of the Nativity Forum
"Recreating these ancient creations, with a contribution of quality, art, and great appreciation for what one does, is undoubtedly very necessary. They are lively, gestural, beautiful figures."
Antoni, Member of the Nativity Forum
"You are a genius with clay and with 3D modeling."
Adria Sanz, Member of the Nativity Forum
"I just want to say that it is a luxury and a privilege to have people like Emili on the Forum, who seek only to enlighten us with their mastery and generosity, so that we can enrich our knowledge. I believe we should take full advantage of their presence."
LUISPO, Member of the Belenismo Forum
These testimonials remind me of a teaching from Marcus Aurelius, who in his Stoic reflections urges us to always remember our mortal nature: "Remember that you will die" (Memento mori), and also the famous quote from Socrates: "I know that I know nothing". Both thoughts are a constant reminder of humility and not letting ego take over. My work follows this philosophy: to learn and improve constantly, without ever forgetting where I come from and where I want to go. The proof of this attitude can be observed both in my sculptural works and in the Belenismo Manual.
In the nativity scene tradition, we are stuck in dogmas (Bede and his followers) and technical misconceptions ("hand-carved"). Don’t you think it’s time to challenge the status quo? In my blog 'Nativity Scene Guide', I will show you many more. We need a proactive attitude, focused on action and creativity, to overcome these obstacles and transform our nativity scene practices.
This fragment from José Antonio Marina's video [1] deeply resonates with my philosophy: as a creator, I solve old problems in new ways. Are you ready to be part of the change?
Isn't it time to stop complaining and start finding creative solutions? Dare to be resolute and break with tradition!
Have you ever wondered what makes a nativity figure truly special? For me, the answer lies in the fusion of art and research. I don’t settle for just creating beautiful figures; my goal is to create pieces that are authentic and true to historical or biblical descriptions.
Do you really prefer figures that follow the same old patterns instead of those designed with extensive research? Every piece I create is the result of hours of study, ensuring that every detail is in harmony with ancient texts and historical traditions.
My goal is not just to offer figures for the nativity scene, but unique pieces that tell an authentic and well-documented story. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have exclusive figures in your nativity scene that also reflect a rich historical tradition?
Why stick with the boring and unremarkable when there is so much to discover? So, if you are interested in seeing how traditional art and technology can coexist and enrich each other, I invite you to explore my project.
“The Art of the Nativity” is a contemporary exploration of this deeply rooted tradition. Combining 3D modeling techniques with traditional sculpting work, each nativity figure becomes a unique work of art, a window to captivating moments of the Nativity.
